PSI CHI AT WWU

“Recognizing and promoting excellence in the science and application of psychology”

Psi Chi was founded in 1929 during the 9th International Congress of Psychology and was the first student organization formally affiliated with the American Psychological Association. With more than three-quarters of a million members, including B.F. Skinner, Florence L. Denmark, and Albert Bandura, Psi Chi is able to offer over $400,000 in grants and awards annually, as well as host six regional and two national conventions every year.

WWU Psi Chi Chapter

At Western, meetings are held about twice a month to discuss topics regarding the scholarly advancement in the field of psychology, such as:

  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Community involvement
  • Continuing education
  • Alternative career options
  • Research assistant opportunities
  • Cultivating an impactful curriculum vitae or resume

As a Psi Chi honor chapter member, you will make connections with others who share your interests in psychology. There may also be additional opportunities to develop leadership experience by joining the Executive Committee.

Requirements for Membership

  • Major or minor in psychology including graduate and transfer students
  • Achieved a cumulative GPA that is in the top 35% of their class (currently 3.40)
  • Completed at least 3 semesters or equivalent of full-time college coursework
  • Completed at least 9 semester credit hours or equivalent of psychology courses
  • Achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA average for psychology courses
